A supplier in Columbia accused of worker rights violation

KUPPA – A supplier in Columbia – According to a recent investigation, garment workers are paid illegally low salaries and experience verbal abuse and sexual harassment at a facility in India that only supplies the US brand Columbia Sportswear.

In response to accusations made by employees at the Shahi Exports-owned plant in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, one of India’s top garment producers, the Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA) opened an investigation.

Additionally, the effort is supporting the grievances of about 2,000 workers who held a five-day demonstration outside the factory last month following a two-day fact-finding visit by two lawyers and a field organizer.
