Our tradition of innovation is founded on deliberate design and ideals that are driven by a higher purpose. These motivating elements are more visible than ever as we try to lessen the environmental impact of our goods and packaging. Reducing emissions at the product level is a key step toward HARMAN’s objective of carbon neutrality by 2040.

Our efforts to lower the carbon footprints of our products have escalated with the 2020 debut of the JBL Flip 5 Eco edition, HARMAN’s first portable Bluetooth speaker manufactured from 90% recycled plastic. In 2021, we launched our eco-friendly InfinityLab power accessories, which include wall chargers, power banks, wireless stands, and a speakerphone made of 90% recycled plastic.

HARMAN is also working hard to decrease packaging-related emissions. We are incorporating sustainability into our packaging by doing the following:

Packaging size reduction

Using environmentally friendly paper packaging and inside trays

In 2022, practically all new Consumer Audio product packaging will be made of post-consumer recycled plastic and paper.

95% of our packaging is printed using biodegradable soy ink.

To reduce waste, remove non-essential power wires.

Our InfinityLab power accessories are packaged in plastic-free materials that are printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper with soy-based ink. Furthermore, the cables for the accessories are made of recycled polyester yarn, and the InstantConnect cable is composed of PVC-free materials with a TPE protective coating.

In 2022, we plan to launch four new goods composed of up to 90% post-consumer recycled plastic and 100% recycled cloth. In Europe, we are transitioning to PVC-free power cables for Harman Kardon. The EPA Energy Star certification will be applied to 14 goods. We also want to extend product longevity by improving robustness, making repairs easier, and making recycling easier.
