The Home Depot Foundation Surprises Atlanta’s Mary Hall Freedom Village
The Home Depot Foundation surprised Mary Hall Freedom Village (MHFV), an Atlanta-based charity partner, this holiday season with $100,000 to help the women veterans in the area move out of homelessness. The money will help MHFV build a new family services centre that will include housing for veterans, childcare, and a variety of other health and wellness services.
During the joyous ceremony, more than 20 veterans were given gifts for the holidays and recognized for their U.S. military service. Throw blankets, linens, towels, and pillows were all provided by The Company Store at The Home Depot for these residents to choose from. The soldiers and their kids also received gifts of pyjamas, robes, coats, personal necessities, and other things on their wish lists. The personnel of MHFV also received gift cards for their charitable neighbourhood.
Veteran of the U.S. Navy Crystal Sellers enrolled in Mary Hall Freedom Village’s programme for homeless female veterans and their kids this year. While the road to recovery from alcoholism hasn’t always been straightforward, Crystal is making great progress and attributes much of her success to the collaboration between The Home Depot Foundation and Mary Hall Freedom Village.

“When The Home Depot Foundation and Mary Hall Freedom Village decided to collaborate, they had no idea how much of a good influence it would have on my future and daily quality of life by demonstrating what it was like to live peacefully and safely once more. I stopped feeling ashamed. My self-worth, self-esteem, and confidence have all increased dramatically,” claims Crystal.
