Kohler Co Receives 2023 EPA WaterSense® Sustained Excellence Award

Kohler Co – The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded Kohler Co. a 2023 WaterSense Sustained Excellence Award in recognition of the company’s ongoing efforts to design water-efficient plumbing products, encourage water conservation, and contribute in the protection of this natural resource. This is Kohler’s ninth Sustained Excellence award, and the WaterSense program’s 14th year of achievement overall.

“As we continue to develop new innovations that reduce water consumption and help increase awareness of the growing need to protect natural resources, it is an honor to be recognized for our efforts, especially by the EPA WaterSense program,” says Craig Baker, vice president of global product innovation for the company.

Kohler is committed to bringing environmental sustainability to the forefront in a meaningful and results-oriented way. Among the highlights of Kohler’s 2022 efforts are:

Reduced GHG emissions, water withdrawal, and net waste intensity: Achieved a 17% reduction in operations Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions, a 10% reduction in operations water withdrawal, and a 23% reduction in operations net waste to landfill intensity.

Global operational renewable energy: In 2022, renewable energy accounted for 54% of global operational electricity. Furthermore, by 2022, 100% of operations in the United States and Canada would be powered by renewable energy.

Water savings and products: According to the EPA’s WaterSense Partner savings calculator, KOHLER, Sterling, and KALLISTA products will save nearly 88 billion gallons of water, 2 million metric tons of avoided CO2 emissions, and more than $1.35 billion in water, sewage, and energy expenditures by 2022.

Environmentally friendly items: In 2022, global sales of environmentally friendly Kitchen and Bath products were $1,013,782,940.

Associate engagement: Nearly 850 Kohler workers worldwide serve as Sustainability Champions, pushing sustainability activities and continuous improvement across the firm. This program, a virtuous circle, allows all workers to be innovators and take ownership of the company’s journey toward a better world.
