MasterCard Appoints Ellen Jackowski as Chief Sustainability Officer
Ellen Jackowski will start working for Mastercard as Chief Sustainability Officer on July 25, 2022, the business stated. She will play a key role in further integrating the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy of Mastercard within the business.
Ellen is our new Chief Sustainability Officer, and we are thrilled to have her on board. “We look forward to her working with partners across the company to take Mastercard to the next level in our ESG efforts,” said Mike Froman, vice chairman and president of Strategic Growth for Mastercard. She is widely regarded as a leader and innovator on ESG.
Mastercard started its ESG initiatives more than ten years ago with a focus on data accountability, inclusive growth, and financial inclusion.
Shamina Singh, the creator and president of the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, stated that the organisation has “great momentum” in making ESG a key differentiator and value driver for the business. “Ellen is going to be a tremendous addition, helping us to expand our efforts as we look at what is most essential to our firm and where we can have the biggest influence on society,” the author said.
From HP, where she served as the Chief Impact Officer and Head of Sustainable Impact, Jackowski has joined Mastercard. Her international team created and delivered a wide range of initiatives centred on human rights, climate action, and digital equity. In the beginning of her career, Jackowski held a number of managerial and consulting positions.
I firmly think that deeds speak louder than words, stated Jackowski. “Over the past few years, MasterCard has demonstrated both how seriously it takes its responsibilities and the significant impact it can achieve. I’m thrilled to be a part of a team that is stepping up to make the world more inclusive and just.
She is a member of the Ocean Plastics Leadership Network’s advisory board, a deputy adviser for the Champions for Nature community of the World Economic Forum, and a former member of the University of Cambridge’s faculty for The Prince of Wales’s Business & Sustainability Programme.
Jackowski graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Science from Northwestern University and went on to complete the Building Innovative Leaders programme at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
