NortonLifeLock wins Gold in Corporate Engagement Awards
NortonLifeLock – The 12th annual Corporate Engagement Awards (CEA) honour the most fruitful and creative corporate alliances. We are overjoyed and humbled to share the news that Surf Smart 2.0 has won Gold in the
2022 CEA Best Educational Programme category.
Surf Smart is a badge programme that focuses on Cyber Safety education and was co-created with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). It aims to give a generation of girls and young women the skills they need to protect themselves and others online.
Surf Smart 2.0, designed for scouts and guides from the age of five to 25, contains a variety of exercises to address various situations, ages, learning needs, and aims. The curriculum’s five pillars encompass online safety, fostering positive relationships.
Through Surf Smart 2.0, we have reached more than 600,000 Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 44 countries since 2011. WAGGGS has been an amazing, long-term partner. After finishing the course, 90% of participants said they knew where to go for assistance if they felt uncomfortable or at risk online, 97% said they felt ready to act as advocates and teach others what they had learned, 98% said they were better able to tell if something was dangerous online, 99% said they had enjoyed learning through Surf Smart, and 98% said they would think twice before sharing anything online.
We just pledged an additional $1 million to expand the scope of Surf Smart 2.0 initiatives across Europe, support the 2023 WAGGGS Academy event in Germany, and aid in the establishment of an online advocacy fund to aid young women and girls interested in digital advocacy. As we enter the third phase of this productive relationship, our goal is to reach 200,000 more girls and young women by the end of 2024.
This honour both acknowledges Surf Smart 2.0 and the ongoing efforts we make to support our communities in genuine and significant ways through our CSR initiatives. Greetings to each and every winner!
