At Qualcomm, we believe that bringing different talent together is critical to unleashing creativity, innovation, and breakthrough technologies. We’re working with organisations like VentureWell to build a pipeline of diverse innovators and patent holders as part of our efforts to strengthen the innovation economy.
VentureWell fosters the entrepreneurial abilities and creativity of university students who are passionate about tackling the world’s most difficult problems. We are happy to continue financing the VentureWell E-Team programme in 2022, which helps diverse student teams from throughout the country who want to take their inventions from the lab to the market.
VentureWell
This three-stage programme teaches vital topics such as business model development and validation, customer identification, and intellectual property. Students learn what it takes to build and scale a venture while working with skilled mentors (such as Qualcomm employees) and thought leaders in social impact entrepreneurship and technological innovation. VentureWell was able to train 190 diverse early-stage entrepreneurs from throughout the country because of our funding of the E-Team programme.
In 2022, we also partnered on efforts to advance DEI by creating our inaugural Innovator Stipend Programme. This programme assists in removing financial barriers that may impede students from participating in the innovation ecosystem. In total, 19 persons from underrepresented groups received stipends to assist them continue to develop their innovations or get funding.
