Sofidel and Suzano for “Together we plant the future”

Together we plant the future – Developing biodiversity corridors towards a more sustainable future” is a pilot project between Sofidel and Suzano, the biggest manufacturer of hardwood pulp in the world. In order to scale up the environmental and socioeconomic impact, as required by SDG Goal 17, this cooperation will show the value of collaboration throughout the supply chain.

As a result of this partnership, Sofidel’s investment will expand environmentally friendly business models that nearby communities may use to increase their food security and nutritional value. This initiative will help about 1,400 family farmers escape poverty and, in the process, will establish a crucial biodiversity corridor to encourage connectivity across a 2,210 square km area of high ecological value rainforest, straddling the Equator.

IABS, the Brazilian Institute for Development and Sustainability, and Amazônia Onlus, an Italian non-profit working to protect the Amazonian forest and its inhabitants, will provide support and help implement this project on the ground.
