Subaru to adopt All Camden City School Classrooms

In keeping with its commitment to helping the students of the Camden City School District, Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today announced that it will “adopt” all middle school (grades six through eight) classrooms in the district, giving them access to essential learning resources. The adoption is a part of the Subaru Loves Learning programme, a collaboration with AdoptAClassroom.org that aims to provide all kids with an equal chance to succeed in the classroom.

Seven schools, 88 classrooms, and 1,184 students will be impacted by the adoption of the middle schools in the Camden City School District. Subaru will also provide school supply packages containing critical classroom goods, packed by staff at Subaru of America, in addition to flexible financing for teachers to use to buy supplies specifically tailored to their classrooms.

Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO of Subaru of America, Inc., stated that “all students deserve the tools to grow and succeed in the classroom, and we want our friends and neighbours in Camden to have every opportunity to acquire a quality education and achieve their goals.” We hope that Subaru’s “adoption” will facilitate a successful academic year for everyone.

At a volunteer day to assist teachers with setting up their classrooms, representatives from the Subaru of America corporate office shocked the educators of the Camden City School District with the news. In order to get ready for the first day of classes, more than 100 Subaru volunteers visited each school in the district to assist with classroom setup and cleanup, bulletin board decoration, and other tasks.

According to Katrina McCombs, superintendent of the Camden City School District, “middle school is a crucial point in a child’s education and a lack of necessary learning resources adds extra pressures to kids, parents, and classrooms.” The Camden City School District is able to concentrate on what it does best—helping children in the district reach their full potential—thanks to Subaru.

Subaru of America, which has its main office in Camden, has a long history of assisting local schools. All Camden City School District kindergarten through fifth grade (K-5) classrooms were adopted by Subaru in 2021. And under the “Remarkable Graduates” programme, Subaru has given more than 160 scholarships to graduating seniors from Camden schools since 2016.
