Kidde, a trusted partner of The Home Depot since 2006 and a leader in fire safety for more than 100 years, recently launched its second annual Cause For AlarmTM campaign.
This fire safety awareness campaign targets educational and access gaps to fire safety procedures. It was created to educate families and children on the need of having functional smoke alarms and practicing fire safety at home. Three out of every five home fire deaths are caused by fires in properties that do not have functional smoke alarms, and these devices can increase the chances of safely fleeing a home fire.

“We know that most home fire fatalities are preventable with the right fire safety education and home safety products,” Isis Wu, VP & GM, Residential Fire, Carrier Fire & Security at Kidde, said. “We also know that by teaching children how to protect themselves from home fires, we can help prevent tragic deaths.” Our goal is to get everyone on board with the cause and assist save more lives.”
During their K-12 education, kids often participate in over 150 fire drills, preparing them for the case of a school fire. They are less aware, though, on what to do if a smoke alarm goes off at home. Kidde devised a fire drill to help children remember what to do in the event of a fire.
