Turner Construction and United Rentals to offer sustainable solutions
Turner Construction will get sustainable solutions from United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI), including all-electric trucks and zero-emission power systems. Turner will use the rented machinery to lessen the environmental impact of the building site as it builds a hyperscale data centre in Kansas City, Missouri for Meta, formerly the Facebook subsidiary.
A 9.6 kilowatt Pro Power onboard generator system is also included in the equipment package, which also includes an all-electric, zero-emissions Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck with a range of up to 320 miles and a maximum towing capability of 10,000 pounds.
“Turner is dedicated to taking the lead in the effort to decarbonize the construction industry and collaborating with cutting-edge partners like United Rentals. The Turner Building data centre programme sustainability manager, Bill Hassel, noted that these technologies enable us to show what the future of construction will entail. Cutting-edge electric vehicles, like the F-150 Lightning, may be tested on actual construction sites, which will enable researchers learn more about how electrifying construction equipment can boost productivity while reducing emissions.
