US senators raise Shein forced labour fears
Three US senators have written to Shein, the Chinese ultra-fast fashion company, to express their concern about the possible use of forced labour cotton from China’s Xinjiang region in its products.
Senators Bill Cassidy, Elizabeth Warren, and Sheldon Whitehouse are concerned that US consumers may inadvertently purchase Shein products made with forced labour.

They are concerned that the Chinese retailer’s direct-to-consumer business model circumvents import restrictions such as the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), which prohibits goods from Xinjiang on the presumption that they were produced using forced labour.
